Mid Autumn Festival

Mooncakes, sushi and lots of tea was present at the Mid-Autumn festival hosted by SSA Flinders at the Diedre Jordan Village Community Centre (VCC). Lots of people turned up to grab their fill of mooncakes while being entertained by a Magic show, performed by Hao Zhe, our publicity officer. Lanterns were also given out to our members for them to go out for a walk at Flinder's surrounding hills and enjoy the view of the brilliant night sky.

SG Buzz

Organised by the Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU), SG Buzz brought Mr Douglas Foo, Founder and CEO of Apex-pal, to Adelaide to give a talk and share with us his expreience about how Sakae Sushi, a popular Singaporean restaurant came about and how it prospered to become a global brand name, with 90 outlets in seven countries.

It also gave Mr Goh Kok Wee, First Secretary of the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore a chance to let more overseas Singaporeans know about the the upcoming SG Day help in Melbourne on the 4th of October.

Mid-Autumn Festival

Metting with Contact Singapore

On the 2nd of September, SSA Flinders met up with delegates from Contact Singapore, Ms Wee Lim Bay, Area Director of Australia and Ms Jancis Tan, Executive.

They provided valuable insight and information about the establishment of Contact Singapore in Australia and about the future events to come.

At the same time, our friends from SSA University of Adelaide were also present.

It was a fruitful session as it gave SSA Flinders the opportunity to establish contacts with other organizations from Singapore to give its members more information and access to services available for career opportunities back in Singapore.

Thank you so much Wee Lim and Jancis for organizing this get-together!

National Day Celebration!!!

On the 31st August, SSA Flinders threw a National Day celebration for both Singaporeans and Malaysians at Stamford Hotel, Adelaide City. Since a number of SSA members (including committee members) are from Malaysia, we decided to hold a 'double' event.

We enjoyed a screening of Singapore’s National Day 2008, and everyone was invited to a fabulous High Tea buffet provided by our Singaporean counterparts at Stamford, Josh Tan and James Ng, which we would like to thank very much!

Not to forget, representatives from the Australian Singapore Business Council (ASBC) committee, Ernie Goh and Charles Savage, were present to join us.

Furthermore, Jane Hogan, head coordinator of Flinders’ International Students’ Services Unit (ISSU) sponsored us and took time off to join us for this event.

Not to forget, our friends from Adelaide University, Phyllicia (president), and her committee members, Tah Wee, Brigette and Darren, were also present to celebrate with us both Singapore and Malaysia's national day.

The event was a success!!! SSA Flinders would like to thank all those who came, regardless if they are Singapore or Malaysian, to celebrate with us both NDP. We would also like to thank Contact Singapore for their gifts.
